The veterinarian may prescribe food supplements that contain certain enzymes or chemicals for treating dog constipation.
Treatment should be only for the last 7 days, and should consist of two teaspoons of mineral oil, twice a day. You can also use water to make food, moist, and for older dogs, you can also vegetables and raw meat in the diet.
Treatments usually involve the use enemas. It is not taken the same way as a laxative, which is usually orally taken.
