Puppy Leash Training — Discover the Happiness of Taking a Walk with your Pup

by sharda on March 5, 2010

Puppy leash training is not as hard as some people may make it out to be, like any dog training it is a matter of patience and persistence. It is important that one person trains the dog, if many people attempt to train the dog at once it will cause confusion for the dog and make training much more difficult.

Puppy leash training generally starts pretty early on, so that they become accustomed to being on a leash. You can run into several problems while leash training, and some are more conventional than others.

Leash training should begin as soon as the puppy sets feet in the house. This is quite different from adult dog house training. Puppies often need to go outside to eliminate during the night, and you’ll want to be able to hear your puppy when he whines to be let outside. Puppies learn the most important lesson in their lives–they learn to accept discipline.

Puppies are highly sensitive creatures hence if you are serene and proscribed then the puppy will be more relaxed after coming to your home. Puppies learn more quickly from other dogs than from us.If you have a friend with an older, leash-trained dog, walking together will soon put the idea over to your puppy.

Puppies are also easily distracted by noises, other people and other animals. When you first start training it is wise to do it where there are less distractions and as your training progresses you can gradually move to places with more potential distractions.
